RFP - Community Based Online Learning

The California Virtual Campus (CVC) is pleased to announce a Request for Proposals (RFP) for its Community-Based Online Learning (CBOL) award. CBOL intends to improve the quality of life for low-income communities throughout the nine economic districts of California.

Specifically, the award provides CBOs with high-speed Internet connectivity to the California Research and Education Network (CalREN). This connectivity and access to CalREN‚s unique education and technology services will enable CBOs to form partnerships with colleges and gain access to high-quality online teaching and learning materials to enhance existing programs or develop new programs.

Access to these online education resources will further empower CBOs to improve quality of life for low-income and underserved communities throughout the state by extending to their clients a full range of multimedia training and services that are only available via a high-speed network.

Ten awards are offered, with at least one awardee in each of California‚s nine economic regions. Nonprofit Community-Based Organizations with 501c3 designation are eligible for CBOL. The organizations must primarily serve low-income communities, and a letter of support from a California community college is required in the full award submission.

CBOs are encouraged to engage colleges and apply for the support provided by the CBOL. Sample online program resources and contact information is available on the award Web site.

Detailed information about the CBOL award and proposal process is available from the CVC Web site at http://www.cvc.edu/cbo.

Inquiries can also be addressed to Adrienne Tackley, by email at atackley@cenic.org or phone at 916.440.8805.

Letters of intent are required by February 16, 2009. All entities that submit this letter may apply for the full award; an invitation to apply is not required.

Complete proposals are required by March 13, 2009
