Health

Technology has the capacity to help improve health by bringing medical care and health information to many low-income and rural communities. By accessing health care within their community, residents from these communities can reduce the number of hours they spend on the road and away from work.

Residents receive health services in local health clinics, which are connected to a high-speed broadband network, allowing them to communicate with medical specialists in hospitals in other parts of the state. High Speed connections also enable residents to access consumer health information from reputable sources like the National Library of Medicine.

However, many communities still lack these services because of many barriers, including the availability of a broadband connection, the availability of medical specialists, and the awareness of reputable and trusted information on the Web.

CCTPG advocates for policies that would increase access to quality health care in low-income and rural communities.
