Support Digital Inclusion for the City of Los Angeles
Broadband and related computer technology can provide important benefits to the City of Los Angeles. A digitally connected city is no longer a luxury but a necessity. Please support key policy recommendations drafted by nonprofit and community-based organizations that seek to ensure that all Angelinos can participate in and take advantage of the economic, educational, health, and civic opportunities afforded by broadband and related information technology.
For more information about this initiative and to co-sign the recommendations online, please visit: http://digitalinclusionla.wordpress.com.
The policy recommendations will be presented to the Los Angeles City Council’s Information Technology and General Services Committee (ITGS). In summary, the policy recommendations call for:
1. A Digital Inclusion Plan: Develop a comprehensive city-wide Digital Inclusion plan that can leverage available assets, maximize current projects, and develop partnerships with nonprofits and the private sectors.
2. Coordination, Accountability, and Implementation: Identify an entity that can oversee the implementation of the Digital Inclusion plan and lead the development of partnerships with nonprofit, community organizations, and the private sector to accomplish its goals.
3. Stakeholder Engagement: Create a mechanism for channeling input from the community to the City on issues regarding Digital Inclusion.
The City of Los Angeles is facing some serious financial limitations. However, the lack of resources should not limit the City in developing a strategic plan to leverage available assets, maximize current projects, and develop partnerships with the community and the private sector.
Please join us in support of Digital Inclusion for the City of Los Angeles!!!!!!!!!
Sincerely,
Edward Gonzales
